Comparisons to the MacBook Air have already been made of the just leaked Lenovo ThinkPad X1, so we won't berate you with them here (ok, just one: It's slim too!). Instead, what's unique?
To start, the "specs" mentioned in the headline are a bit more robust and power-consuming that what was pushed out of Cupertino late last year, starting with a 2.5Ghz Core i5 chip and a single-slot 8MB RAM stick. Next up is USB 3.0, eSATA, an SDXC reader and some kind of "hybrid Digital Display Port" that will allow users to outpur using DisplayPort of HDMI.
In at least one area outside thinness the X1 is also aping the MacBook Air with its purported lack of an optical drive. RIP, dude!
The X1 is rumored to be arriving sometime in May, possibly 17-20, for about $2,290.

With the obsession with miniaturization and thinning of notebook computers these days, the Lenovo X1 is sure to be a tough contender against the likes of the MacBook Air or Samsung Series 9.
I’ve been an Thinkpad fan ever since I got my first magnesium-alloy encased T-Series. ThinkPads are built to last, and they have the world’s best notebook computer keyboards, too. While the ultra-thin X300 series has long been phased out, Lenovo has another notebook that’s a worthy contender in the razor-thin niche: the ThinkPad X1.
Measuring 13.3 inches diagonally, the ThinkPad X1 is just 21.5 mm thick. While it’s not as thin as theMacBook Air (17 mm thin at its thickest point), the X1 is the thinnest ThinkPad so far when it launches. According to leaked specs, the ThinkPad X1 will also feature Gorilla Glass display at 1366×768 pixel resolution, and run on a Core i5-2520M processor with 8 GB of RAM. The X1 will also feature a 160 GB solid state drive and SDXC slot.
Priced at approximately $2,900, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is set to launch May 20, at least in Switzerland. No announcement on when the X1 will launch elsewhere in the world.
